Mark Woods

January 28, 1949 — October 9, 2023

Hobbs

Mark Woods was born January 28, 1949, in Clarksville, Tx. He died Monday, October 9, 2023, in Hobbs, NM.

He was a graduate of Hobbs High School in Hobbs, NM and served a short period of time in the U.S. Navy. He worked for several companies in the area, the last one being the Coca Cola Bottling Company for several years. Earlier in life he attended Pentecostal COGIC and later Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Hobbs.

Mark was an ordained minister and a licensed mortician. He enjoyed watching football, especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. He loved fishing, and he could tell some good fish stories, but none about the ones that got away. He was a man of many skills and talents. He loved doing odd jobs for Ms. Betty Barns, his neighbor from childhood. He could fix or build almost anything; he built the home that he lived in until the day of his death. God truly blessed Mark Woods, and the skills God gave him he used to help others.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, his "sweetheart"; Dorcas Woods. From this union five children: Charlotte, Donna, Shawn, Victor (Erisha) and Mark Junior (Brandy), and from his previous marriage, three children: Sharla, Yolanda and Tony, twenty-one grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents Archie and Thesolean Woods, sisters: Bonnie Sue Woods and Merlynn Moore, and brother: Min. Tommie Woods.

His surviving siblings are brothers; Archie Jr (Janice) and Willie James, sisters: Wanda, Eulla, Connie Sue, and his twin sister Mary Forte' (James).
