Mary Odette Osborne

Mary Odette Osborne was born on July 30, 1943, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Francis Elston and Guillermina Ramirez Elston. She went to her eternal home on September 12, 2025, in Hobbs, New Mexico, with the love of her life by her side.

While attending Austin High School in El Paso, Texas, she met her soulmate, Larry Osborne. The two eloped on December 30, 1961, in Juarez, Mexico, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, devotion, and faith. In 1976, they moved from El Paso to Oil Center, New Mexico, where they lived until 1985 before making their home in Hobbs.

Mary was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud Nana. She was the heart of her family and the rock that held them together. Her love was faithful, her laugh was contagious, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.

A gifted artist, Mary shared her creativity generously, leaving behind beautiful works that reflect her spirit and passion. She faithfully served her church for decades, teaching Sunday school and participating in the prayer chain, touching countless lives with her faith and encouragement.

Mary was well known for her warmth, her kindness, and her cooking, especially her famous banana pudding and pecan pie. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and for turning ordinary moments into treasured memories.

Her legacy is one of faith, family, and joy. She taught those around her the meaning of love, perseverance, and to trust in God's plan. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Guillermina Elston; her in-laws, Joe and Ruth Osborne Knipps; and her brother-in-law, Walter Osborne.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Larry Osborne of Hobbs, NM; her daughters Janice Hyman and husband Lynn of Hobbs, NM, and Kimberly James and husband Brad of Odessa, TX; her granddaughters Amanda Ramos and husband Manuel of Hobbs, NM, Lynzie Persilver and husband Canan of Hobbs, NM, Kelsey Palacios and husband Greg of Odessa, TX, and Kallie Standard and husband Colby of Odessa, TX; her great-grandson, Barrett; her brothers, John Elston and wife Nora of Carlsbad, NM, and Charles Elston and wife Doris of North Richland Hills, TX; her sister, Doreen Osborne of Kyle, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
