alignjustifyGraveside services for Curtis and Mary Katherine Kitty Worden of Hobbs, New Mexico, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Prairie Haven Cemetery with Pastor Jim Martin, stepson of Mr. Worden and son of Mrs. Worden, officiating.
alignjustifyArrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
alignjustifyMr. Worden, 79, died April 16, 2009, and Mrs. Worden, 82, died April 21, 2009, both at Good Samaritan Village.
alignjustifyMr. Worden was born December 15, 1929, in Hobbs. Mrs. Worden was born January 13, 1927, in Lexington, Kemtucky. They were married October 7, 1971, in Seminole, Texas.
alignjustifyCurtis owned and operated the first 7-11 store in Hobbs. He also owned and operated the Malco service station on Marland. He worked for American National Insurance Co. for many years. Kitty worked for many years as a sales clerk for Norman Lockhart and Zeke Jernigan. In later years, she was a nurse provider for her husband, Curtis. The couple was always together. After Curtis passed away, Kitty told her family she wanted to be with Curtis. At noon on the day Curtis was to be buried, Kitty passed away. At the request of her family, both Curtis and Kitty, were buried side by side at Prairie Haven Cemetery. They were members of Northside Baptist Church.
alignjustifyCurtis' survivors include two daughters, Becky Bogle and husband Mike of Arroyo Grande, California, and Cindy Burke and husband Steve of Arroyo Grande, California; a stepson, Jim Martin and wife Becky of Midland, Texas; a sister, Loretta Phoenix of San Pedro, California; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jessie Sanders Worden, and four brothers, Elvis, Coy, Perry and Vernon Worden.
alignjustifyKitty's survivors include a son, Jim Martin and wife Becky of Midland, Texas; two granddaughters, Melissa Culp and husband Rob of Allen, Texas, and Meredith Gonzalez and husband Richard of Brentwood, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Monroe and Anna Mary Blythe Hail, her first husband and a sister.
