Earline Harris, 97, was born on January 26, 1922 in Tupelo, MS to James (Jim) and Zemma Gurley.
She grew up in Ada, OK. She received a B.S. degree in education from East Central State Teacher's College in 1944. She married her high school sweetheart, Winford (W.L.) Harris on March 4, 1944. They had two children; James L. (Jim) Harris of Hobbs and Loretta Jean (Retta) Hamilton of Vancouver, WA.
She taught junior high school for 3 years in Oklahoma City, OK, where her husband worked for Halliburton. They moved to Hobbs, NM in 1959. She taught 5th grade at Southern Heights Elementary School for 22 ½ years in Hobbs and retired in 1982. Earline loved teaching, sewing and made most of her clothes. She also enjoyed RVing and fishing with W.L. She was a longtime member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
Earline is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 15, 2009, her sisters; Jimmie Deene Williams, Mildred Newman, and Velma Mack.
