Funeral services for Michiel Mike Couch, 70, of Hobbs, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012, at Chapel of Hope with Minister Doug Crum officiating. Mike died December 19, 2012, at his home in Hobbs. He was born July 16, 1942, in Seagraves, TX, to Richard and Gladys Couch. Visitation will be Thursday, December 20 at Chapel of Hope 11:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. with the family in attendance from 5:30 7:00 and Friday, 8 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hobbs. He married Pat Gober January 24, 1962, in Hobbs.
Mike graduated from Hobbs High School in 1961 and that same year joined the U. S. Marine Corp where he served 4 years and became a 1st Sergeant, having served in the Vietnam War. He worked for Phillips Petroleum doing construction maintenance in Hobbs, Andrews and Odessa and retired after 35 years. Mike enjoyed drawing and won prizes at the Lea County Fair doing so. He also used his welding truck and created metal art.
Surviving Mike is his wife Pat Couch of Hobbs a brother, Richard Couch, and special friend Steven Jenson, of San Francisco, CA sisterinlaws, Beverly Robinson of Las Cruces and Lilah Koenig, and husband Ralph, of Hobbs brotherinlaw, Terry Davis, and wife Jan, of Amarillo, TX numerous nieces and nephews special friend, Richard White of Greenwells Springs, LA and his VFW coffee drinking buddies.
