Milton Hodges

November 14, 1942 — February 4, 2022

Hobbs

Milton Neal Hodges was born on November 14, 1942, and passed from this life on February 4, 2022, at the age of 79.  He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Frank and Inez Hodges who preceded him in death.  His sister, Joalene Lemonds, also preceded him in death.

He married Patsy LaFern Forbes on November 26, 1966, in Hobbs.  Milton (and Patsy) lived a full life in different parts of the United States and the world, working in the oilfield.  The oilfield took him to Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines from 1973-1978.  In 1978, Milton moved his family to Grand Junction, Colorado, and then to Farmington, New Mexico.  Continuing in the oilfield, he was transferred back to Hobbs in 1983 where he spent his remaining oilfield life.  In 1993 he switched careers and became a Realtor.

In 1994, he became a Qualifying Broker and with Patsy, opened Hodges Realty, Inc., serving the community for ten years.  He retired in 2014.

Milton had a deep love for his wife and his family.  His hobbies included golf, fishing, and any sport the grandchildren played.  Many trips to the lake for water skiing, boating, and fishing were made.  He loved playing cards with friends and having family gatherings (especially with the grandkids and great-grandkids).  He was the number one supporter of his grandsons in their sports, especially baseball – being the first to set up his chair closest to the fence or to volunteer to take them to their away games.

Milton is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patsy.  He had two daughters, Rhonda Tyler (Jim) and Patty Simon.  Patty preceded him in death in 2003.  He has seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one on-the-way.  Jason (Amanda) Tyler with Cooper and Drake; Byron (Bailey) Tyler with Lincoln and Dawson; Jordan Tyler; Cami (Jeremy) Rice with Matti and Mason; Cole Simon (Morgan) with Braxton; Cayla Simon; Cayden (Chip) Simon and (Addison).

The family appreciates the staff at Desert Gardens, especially Landmark, Encompass & Kindred Hospice Staff, for their attention and care.

Memorial contributions can be made to:  The American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA, 22116-7023.
