Memorial services for Morris Ben Meriwether will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Chapel of Hope. They will be in charge of arrangements. Pastor Mike Adams will be officiating.
Morris died September 16, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. He was born June 15, 1939, in Lockney, TX, to Raymond Wesley Meriwether and Zerah Evlyn Meriwether.
Morris worked for the Hobbs Post Office for 30 years and was well known in the community. His crisp white beard and blue eyes charmed all people, especially the children who mistook him for Santa Claus. He was a generous and honest man, always willing to help a friend in need.
After high school, he joined the Navy. In 1959, Meriwether served his country for several years in Japan. He enjoyed playing billiards, poker, and watching football. He had three special cats: Mama, Buddy, and Little Buddy. They will surely miss his kind face, as we all will.
Morris is survived by his nephew Monty Meriwether and his family, wife Christy Meriwether and their daughter Tessa Meriwether of Lubbock, TX sister in law, Donnie MeriwetherBowman of Lubbock, TX Daughter, Georgette several grandchildren and a great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Wesley Meriwether mother, Zerah Evlyn Meriwether and brother, Douglas Wayne Meriwether.
