Nathan B. Jernigan, 68, of Hobbs, NM, went to heaven on September 13, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by his family.
Nathan was born June 2, 1954, in El Paso, Texas to Roy and Irene Jernigan.
He moved to Hobbs for a second time at the age of 9 with his parents. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1972. He married the love of his life, Letrice, January 25, 1977, and welcomed a daughter a few years later.
He went on to work at Hobbs Diesel as a mechanic for a few years then Nathan began his career in the oilfield with Tri Service Drilling for 2 years then on to Hondo Drilling Co. in 1977 for twelve years. In 1991, he went to work for Bull Rogers Inc. and finished his career in 2019.
After years of long hours and being away from his home and family, Nathan retired and fulfilled his time with his wife and grandchildren which he greatly enjoyed. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved to travel and go camping. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Nathan touched many lives with his kindness and willingness to help others.
Nathan is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Irene Jernigan of Hobbs, brother, Raymond Jernigan of Hobbs, sister, Cheryle Sifford of Hobbs and sister-in-law Gloria Jernigan of Lovington.
He is survived by his wife, Letrice Jernigan of Hobbs, daughters, Candace Jernigan-Infante and spouse Adam of Hobbs, and LaCresha Montgomery of Alamogordo, NM, son/grandson Ronnie Montgomery and spouse “Tyler” of Mineral Wells, Tx, brothers, Keith Jernigan and Rodney Jernigan of Hobbs, and Riley Jernigan of Lubbock, Tx, 5 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
