Nathaniel Lopez Salazar
“So a horse walks into a bar…” To those that knew Nathan, know that he could barely keep his composure while telling this joke. No matter how many times he said it, he always had tears and uncontrollable laughter by the time he ended it.
Nathaniel was born to Jose and Rebecca Salazar in El Paso, Texas in November 18, 1976. He unexpectedly left us February 3, 2022 in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Nathan attended Southern Heights Elementary, Heizer Jr. High and Hobbs High School. While attending these schools, he was a part of their school sports team, school band or other activities. Nathan will always be remembered for his laughter, his pranks and for his love of the Dallas Cowboys and his children. Nathan loved his Heavy Metal music and would often be seen showing off his Air Guitar skills or tapping his fingers to the beat of the drums. Every once in a while, there would be a glimpse of his “Performance Face” when his song got real good.
Anyone who knew Nathan also had a story to tell about him or something that he did. Whether scaring his sister by hiding under the kitchen sink, throwing his mother’s belts onto the rooftop, running across town to tell a friend Happy Birthday, or making his kiddos wear fake mustaches so that they can be just like him. Not matter what Nathan did, there was always a story to follow. He will always be remembered by those that knew him. As a favor to his children, we ask that you please write your memories down so that they can be shared and enjoyed by them.
Nathaniel is survived by his parents Jose (Maria) Salazar of El Paso, Tx and Rebecca Salazar of Hobbs, NM. His children Sophia and Nathaniel (Alex) Salazar Jr. (Bonnie Salazar) and J’ohnny Nathaniel Salazar III (Laquana Dawson) of Hobbs, New Mexico. Surviving siblings include Joe (Nora) Salazar of Santa Clarita, California, Venisa Salazar of Kyle, Texas, Erica (Chuck) Fulton, Hobbs, New Mexico, Rachel (Mark) Sorheim Hobbs, New Mexico, Michelle Salazar of Hobbs, Fernando (Melody) Salazar of Hobbs, Victoria Salazar of Hobbs, David (Brittany) Lemalu of Plano, Texas.
