Nelson Flemens

A funeral service for Lee Flemens, 72, of Hobbs will be at Taylor Memori al Church at 2 p.m. Oct. 1,2012, with Pastor Dale Shook officiating.
Burial will take place after services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 15 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. noon at
Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, which is in charge arrangements.
Flemens died Sept. 27, at his home in Hobbs. He born Oct. 25. 1939, in Cache Okla. He married Priscilla Flemens on July 12. 1980 in Hobbs.
He was a Baptist. Nelson was born in Okla., and lived with his mother and maternal grandparents until his father returned from military duty overseas after World War II. The family of three moved often as families do, settling in California where he eventually graduated from San Pedro High School in 1957. The family that numbered seven in 1958 moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas. He graduated from barber college in the mid 60s and continued his trade until 1990 in Hobbs, N.M., after a move from Texas, when he changed his profession to automotive parts salesman, first with One Stop Auto Parts, then later Parts Plus. He was an avid collector of nostalgia his 1ove of the guitar expanded to include his hobby as a deejay at KHOB playing 50s and 60s music which afforded him an opportunitv to meet Ricky Nelson and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers from those teams inception.
Survivors include his Priscilla Flemens of Hobbs brother Myron Flemens and wife Tina of Hobbs three sisters, Pam Rice and husband Brad of Hobbs Vivian Flemens of Hobbs and Eron Flemens of McAlester, OK three nephews. Jeremy and wife Brandy of 0dessa, TX, Lance Flemens of San Diego,CA, Nicholas Flemens of Hobbs one niece, Kendra Ferguson of Pagosa Springs, Colo. two step sons, Bobbv Hicks and wife Angela of Frisco, Texas, and Royce Hicks of Keller. TX two granddaughters, Hayleigh Kinsley Hicks of Frisco,TX and one grandson to be born, Baby Hicks of Frisco, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Hazel Flemens and nephew, Eric Flemens.
