Palmer
Dec 18, 1932 — Sep 4, 2026
Celebration of Life for Olga Faye Palmer will be held at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, Monday, September 14 at 10:00 am.
Olga Faye Palmer was born December 18, 1932, to the home of Walter and Donie Gamel in Mason County, Texas.
Faye married Owen Edward Palmer May 4, 1951, in Merkel, Texas. Moved to Monument, New Mexico in March of 1952 for Ed to begin his career in the Oil Field with Texico Oil Company. Faye and Ed had 3 children, Danny, Brenda and Freddy. The family lived in Eunice, NM and then moved to Lovington. When Ed retired he and Faye moved to Lake Livingston, Texas. They moved back to Hobbs in 2012. Ed passed away in 2013, and Faye continued to live in their home in Hobbs until May 2026 and then Faye became a resident of the Bee Hive in Hobbs.
Although her given name was Olga, she was better known as Faye to most of her family and friends. Faye was a Grandma, Mimi, and Aunt Auggie to her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
If you knew Faye at all you would know how much she liked to bake. Faye would bake multiple loaves of bread a day and deliver them to all she knew. If it wasn’t bread it might be a batch of brownies.
Faye was always involved in some sort of sewing project. Faye made many quilts and was a member of a Hobbs quilting group.
Faye never knew a stranger and was always inviting people to her home to visit.
Faye is preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings and her husband. She is survived by 2 sons, Danny (Lora) Palmer, Freddy (Cara} Palmer, and 1 daughter, Brenda Winn, 12 Grandchildren, and 28 Great Grandchildren.
Faye will be laid to rest in Prairie Haven Cemetery beside her husband of 61 years.
