Patty as she was affectionately known was born to Ola Kathryn Scarry on Sept 15, 1947, in Eunice, NM. She lived in Monument, NM and later moved to Hobbs, NM where she attended school, grades 1-12 and then graduated Hobbs High School in 1965. She went to ENMU for 4 1/2 years majoring in speech, drama, radio, tv and oral interpretation. She was ENMU's very first tv "weathergirl" at KENW tv station. While attending college she was introduced to her future husband Gene William Rucker. They got married on Jan 31st,1970. Together they owned Johnnies Floral and Gifts in Lovington, NM. Serving all surrounding communities. Later she went from Blooming to Booming at Coonie's Explosives and Black Powder, Inc., the family business. For 30 years she was a member of Preceptor Nu Sorority and was voted woman of the year multiple times. She was dedicated and active at her church St Christopher's Episcopal. Her enjoyment of music took her to many Elvis Tribute Concerts and to see her boys The Texas Tenors where she met hundreds of new friends around the world. She is survived by her son David Shawn Rucker and wife Sondra Lynn Rucker. Her daughter Kaci Dawn Rucker and grandchildren William Riley Rucker and Kathryn Elaine Scarry. Her infectious smile, big hugs, love and delicious food will be missed by all.
