Patsy Lou Kerbo

October 16, 1942 — June 13, 2025

Hobbs

One of God's most faithful and loving servants was called home and Heaven heard her loudly singing "Hallelujah" on her way there. Patsy Lou Kerbo made her long-awaited journey on June 13, 2025. She truly dedicated her life to the Lord and loved Him with every fiber of her being.

Patsy was born on October 16,1942 in Corsicana, Texas to Ernest Robert and Mamie Magdeline Kenyon. They moved to Monument, New Mexico in 1948 when Patsy was six years old. They raised their family on a ranch there. Her father was a large animal vet technician and her mother was a homemaker. Patsy loved the ranch and rodeo life and became a barrel racer when she was just 14 years old. Those days were some of her fondest memories.

Patsy was a beautiful young girl of just twenty-one when she met a tall, dark, handsome fella known as RV Kerbo. Their friends set them up on a blind date, but it was not love at first sight. She said, "I didn't even like him!" and laughed. He continued to pursue her and eventually won her heart. They were married by the Justice of the Peace in Odessa, Texas on March 11,1964.

RV wanted to give his family a real home and so he bought a little patch of land out on Gary Lane in Hobbs, New Mexico back in 1978. They made it their homestead and spent the next 46 years there. They created a home filled with love and laughter and more than a little bit of chaos. Between the four children they raised there, and all their friends, that little house on Gary Lane became a home away from home for a myriad of kids. Anyone who spent any amount of time with them felt right at home and quickly became part of the Kerbo family. If only those old walls could talk, oh the stories they would tell. So much fun was had and so many memories made to cherish!

Patsy was one of the first women to work in the oil industry back in the 1970's. She worked for Amoco as a roustabout, until she was injured on the job. She was no longer able to work, but raising her kids kept her more than busy. She loved those kids more than life itself and was happy being a stay-at-home mom, so she could give them the best childhood she could. Their son, Martin Wayne, came along in 1965. He was the apple of his momma's eye. She was such a proud Hobbs Eagle mom when Martin played football and ran track during his high school years. Their daughter, Roberta Michelle, made her debut in 1966. Patsy could not have been happier. Having a perfect baby girl to cherish and nurture created the perfect balance in their family. She never missed a game of jr. football, when Martin was playing and Roberta was cheerleading. Her and RV also raised their grandsons, Cody and Ryan, as their own. Patsy devoted her life to taking care of their children and she beamed with pride and joy when her grandchildren and great grandchildren came along. Her whole face would light up when she talked about them.

The three things Patsy loved most in life were her Lord and Savior, her family and her cats. She spent her entire life saving sick and abandoned felines. She never turned away a cat in need. She gave them a loving home, where they were free to roam, with full bellies and free of disease. And when she got to a point in her life when she couldn't physically take any more into her home to care for, she worked diligently online to assist others in finding homes for cats they had rescued or to help raise money for various rescues. She made such a difference in the lives of so animals and she passed her passion on to her son, Ryan. She could not have been happier knowing he was continuing her love of cats and her compassion for animals.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 56 years, RV Kerbo; father, Ernest Robert Kenyon; mother, Mamie Magdeline Kenyon; sister, Gertrude Mae Kenyon; and brothers, Aubrey Ernest Kenyon, Charles Mathalee Kenyon and Lloyd Wayne Kenyon.

She is survived by her son, Martin Wayne Kerbo (Allison) of Herriman, Utah; daughter, Roberta Michelle Kerbo of Hobbs, New Mexico; son, Ryan Vance Kerbo of Hobbs, New Mexico; grandsons, Cody Burrows (Jamie) of Oregon, Dominic Cateriano of Colorado, Tanner Kerbo of Utah; granddaughters, Madison Kerbo, Peyton Kerbo, Sydney Kerbo, all of Utah; step-granddaughters, Katelynn Van Buren and Alexandera Van Buren of Utah; great grandchildren, Lucille Melody Burrows, Roselynn Violet Burrows, Derek Cateriano, Leah Cateriano, Troy Cateriano, and Briella Cateriano; cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and a wealth of friends.

Patsy was enormously blessed in so many ways and she spread those blessings to as many as she could. She loved fiercely and she made sure that you knew you were loved. She loved to laugh and her beautiful blue eyes lit up when she did. Her radiant smile, infectious laughter and loving ways warmed the hearts of everyone she encountered. She was such a beautiful soul and she lead a long, wonderful life here on Earth. One can only imagine the life the Lord has planned for her in Heaven. It will be a glorious one, no doubt. Lord, take care of our precious Patsy Lou until we meet again!
