Phyllis Jones

January 4, 1945 — November 5, 2020

Hobbs

Phyllis Ann Jones, 75, was born in Higgins, Texas on January 4th, 1945 to Vernon and Hope Lawrence Green.  Phyllis sadly passed on November 5th, 2020 in Roswell NM surrounded by two children and one granddaughter.

After birth, the family moved to Eunice, New Mexico. Phyllis was the youngest of 4 children. She had two sisters, Katherine Florence Rusk, and Mary Green and one brother, Vernon Anderson Green Jr. Phyllis and her mother did ironing for friends of Eunice, in which she loved to do. Many years, Phyllis and Hope carried on the ironing business until Hope's passing. Phyllis had given birth to 4 daughters. Peggy Sue Pizzoferrato, Katherine Michelle Ford, and the youngest Tammy Jo Jones.

Shortly after her mother's passing, Phyllis moved to Jal, New Mexico where she attended the Church of God. Phyllis briefly worked at the Jal Elementary as a custodian/kitchen helper. She loved being around kids and loved working for the school. She decided to move on to working for Town and Country in 2001. Better known as Stripes now. Phyllis worked in the Jal convenience store for 3 years before moving to Hobbs in 2003, still working for Town & Country until she retired in 2010. Phyllis loved working for this company and enjoyed her customers. They always put a smile on her face.

After her retirement, Phyllis continued to work on her crafts that she did in her spare time. Her favorite thing to do was plastic canvas. She made things for every holiday, but her all-time favorite was making football clocks. She could make any team and loved showing everyone. She was very proud of the things she made. As the years passed, Phyllis had to give up on her craft making. Phyllis lived with her daughter Tammy and helped her foster many animals. She had a love for each and every one of the fosters. Their house was always full of fur babies, including their 4 dogs and 3 cats.

Phyllis was known to have a big heart and would give the shirt off her back any given day. She cared for her kids, and grandkids. Phyllis also had a big love of Scooby Doo; she owned every movie. The family will miss her smile, laugh and most importantly the memories they all shared.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings. She is survived by her children Peggy Pizzoferato, Michelle Ford and Tammy Jones.  Her 6 grandchildren, Alexis Juarez, Lacey McPherson, Tyler Jones, Donna Elms, Parker Elms, Marybeth Moore, and 2 great grandchildren, Christopher Dawson and Landon Issac and many nieces and nephews.
