Raymond Arnold
Worden
Oct 26, 1947 — Sep 7, 2026
Raymond Arnold Worden was born October 26, 1947, in Hobbs, New Mexico from Cecil and Dolie Worden. Growing up he was the typical country boy. He loved hunting, fishing, and anything to get his hands dirty. He also had a gentle touch and was taught to do hair by his mother Dolie, which came in handy later for all the girls he raised. Once Raymond reached the age of working, he became a truck driver and worked for a gas plant for a few years. In 1967 Raymond joined the United States Army and served his country for twenty years within the National Guard. After the Army, he joined the Hobbs Police Department for eight years and then worked for the Lea County Sheriffs office for twenty. After his time in service, he worked for the Chapel of Hope and then went onto Western Commerce Bank and that was his final job before retiring in 2019. Throughout his careers he was also a volunteer fireman with the Knowles Fire Department and most of his family and friends would agree that being behind the wheel of the tanker was exactly where he was meant to be, other than next to the love of his life.
Sandra and Raymond met in 1967 and were great friends. They helped each other through the struggles of life and raising all their wild children. In 1978, their friendship blossomed into love and on May 21, 1979, they got married and made their love story locked in forever. Between raising nine kids together they consistently had their hands full, but it was never a dull moment, Raymond taught the kids to shoot, drive cars, pray when it was needed, but also how to throw a mean right hook when they had to. He never failed to show what it meant to be a father or a partner. And he always listened without judgment and gave the best advice, even if his kids did not listen to it at times.
Raymond is met in death by his mother and father, his son James, his mother-in-law Madelyn, and some of his dearest friends. He is lived on by his daughters Suzanne, Stephenie, Jackie, Tracy, and Sadie. His grandchildren JJ and family, Anaka and family, Collene, Gwyneth, Lilleth, Elleth, Jayden, Shiloh, and Madelyn. And son in laws that he loved dearly. As well as the lives he left an impression on.
