Refugio (Cuca) Manriquez

Maria Del Refugio Manriquez de Chavez 76, passed away at 11:23 pm on March 10th, 2024, at Nor lea General Hospital Lovington, NM. She was born in Ranchos de Santiago, Chihuahua on August 9, 1947, to Jesus Jose Chavez and Maria Ordoñez. She married Hernan Manriquez in 1964 whom preceded her in death. They had a son Alex Manriquez on May 10th, 1990, still surviving. Refugio worked as a nurse in Dallas, TX in 1973 they moved to Phoenix AZ in 1987 and worked as a seamstress until fate brought them to Hobbs, NM where she birthed her only child and raised him here after her late husband's death. She loved cooking, playing cards, was quite renowned as a local poker legend. Raised her only son to become a man being a single mother, greeted everyone with a warming smile and impacted many lives in a positive sense. Her humility, strong-willed character and loving heart will never be forgotten and live on through her only surviving son.
