Ricky Neal Smith passed away on May 30, 2026, at the age of 61. Rick was born July 9, 1964, in Jal, Nm to Neal and Phyllis Smith. He was the oldest of 4 children. He worked in the family business Triple S Electric as an electrician until his death. Rick graduated from Hobbs High School in 1982 where he proudly played football for Hobbs Eagles. He also participated in various other sports. After graduation he went on to attend NMJC, South Plains College and ENMU. Rick enjoyed Rodeo, Hot Rod cars and Racing. He loved getting out on the water with his friends in his younger years. Rick was an avid OU and Steelers fan. Rick loved hanging out with friends and family and never missed a function. He will always be remembered as a loving, soft-spoken and gentle son, brother and uncle with a tender heart and genuine concern for others.
Rick is survived by his parents Neal and Phyllis Smith, sister Gena and husband Andy Compary, brother Lance Smith and sister-in-law Deborah, nephew Chance Compary and wife Karla, Camdon and Cooper Smith, Braxtyn Compary, niece Brilee Compary and Remi Compary. He was the father to Shae Smith and stepfather to Harlee Lester. Rick also leaves behind so many cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as many friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by sister Loree Rachel, grandparents Arelee and Irene Smith, Clay and Lorene Adams, several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A visitation will be held Thursday June 11, 2026, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home from 1pm to 6pm Funeral Services will follow on June 12, 2026, at 10am at Taylor Street Church of Christ with the burial taking place at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
