Robert Paul “Bobby” Wallach passed away on May 25, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to Paul Wallach and Louise Misenheimer, he moved with his family to Eunice, New Mexico, as a toddler. He grew up and went to school in Eunice, where he excelled in sports, particularly football. Following graduation, he proudly served three years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Italy.
Bobby returned to Lea County after his service, where he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann McSpadden. The couple moved to El Paso, Texas, while Bobby attended the University of Texas, before returning to their Lea County roots where they embraced the pure joy (or terror) of raising their four spirited sons.
In business, Bobby and his brother, Ray, took over a family venture that became Wallach Concrete. Known for its iconic polka-dotted concrete mixers, the company was owned and operated by Bobby and Barbara for more than 33 years. Bobby retired from the concrete business in 1996, selling Wallach Concrete to his eldest son, Robert.
Bobby deeply loved Lea County and dedicated much of his life to improving his community. He served faithfully at the First United Methodist Church in both Eunice and Hobbs, and he led the Eunice Public School Board as President for more than 17 years. He eventually took his passion for service to Santa Fe, representing Lea County as a State Representative for 14 years before being elected Mayor of Hobbs.
Bobby relished spending time with family and friends, especially playing golf, hunting quail, or searching lake waters for the next prize fish. He was an avid reader and a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He lived true to his word, believed fiercely in the potential of people, and possessed a remarkably generous heart. He lived a long, full, and wonderful life.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his son Robert Wallach and wife Sue of Hobbs, New Mexico; son Bruce Wallach and wife Dorie of Midland, Texas; and son Brian Wallach of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tyler Wallach and wife Michele, and their children Ava Grace and Parker of Lubbock, Texas; Sara Coats and husband Kerry, and their children Kaylom, Evie, and Collynn of Lubbock, Texas; Bryce Wallach of Dallas, Texas; Adam Wallach and wife Mary, and their children Ellie and Remy of Sydney, Australia; and Leah Buck and her children Charleigh, Greyson, and Lawson of Midland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Paul Wallach; brother Ray Wallach; and sister Patty House.
The family is deeply grateful for the spectacular team at Crown Point Health Suites, who so compassionately and wonderfully cared for Bobby these past months, and to Beyond Faith Hospice for its spectacular services. Chapel of Hope Funerals and Cremations will direct graveside services being held Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2 p.m. in Eunice, New Mexico, at Brunson Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any gifts honoring Bobby be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital located in Memphis, Tennessee or PDAP in Hobbs (500 N. Dalmont St., Box #5185).
