Santiago "Chago" Guillen Maciel, 75, beloved father, was called to be with our Lord on Sunday January 7, 2018. Santiago passed away peacefully at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Santiago was one of three children and was a kind, loving father of three children, who loved spending time with his family. He loved taking care of his grandchildren, working on his garden, watering his trees, making people laugh, making himself busy outside his yard, and making everyone around always feel loved and welcome. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, and friend. Santiago was a very firm man who stood in his own beliefs.
Most of Santiago's free time was spent in his yard. Numerous friends would stop by to talk to him and ask him advice on how to plant trees and plants. On most sunny Sundays, he would barbecue and everyone was invited. Anyone that would come by would leave with a heart full of laughter. Santiago was very passionate about boxing. He loved to watch some good old-fashioned boxing and some of his favorite boxers were Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. He was known to buy a good boxing PPV event.
