A funeral Mass for Santos Garcia of Hobbs, N.M., will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at St. Helena Catholic Church with Father Dennis Fountain officiating. A private family ceremony will take place at a later time. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. todshy;ay at Chapel of Hope Funshy;eral Home.
Visita tion is 1-8 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Hope.
Mr. Garcia, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at his home in Hobbs, N.M. He was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Tilden, Texas.
Mr. Garcia's family was his greatest joy in life, especially his grandchildren. His friends were important to him. He enjoyed the outdoors.
The Garcia family would like to thank the staff at Vista Care Hospice for their loving care and concern, espeshy;cially to Al Cooper and Holly Henderson. Brian Henning was a special blessing to Santos and the family. His help and concern is greatly appreciated.
Mr. Garcia was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bennie Garcia and wife Mellie of Artesia, N.M., and David Garcia and wife Karen of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughshy;ters, Mary Jane Gray and sigshy;nificant other, Bob Allen of Hobbs, N.M., and Valinda Mims and husband Gene of Irmo, S.C.; his grandchilshy;dren, Marcos Sanchez Jr. of Lubbock, Texas, James Sanchez, serving in the U.S. military in Korea, Pricilla Sanchez of Lubbock, Texas, DaShenna Mendoza of Hobbs, N.M., Fabian Sanchez of Lubbock, Texas, Kristin Gray of Lubbock, Texas, Aaron Garcia of Hobbs, N.M., Gabriel Garcia of Hobbs, N.M., Amanda Granger of Hobbs, N.M., Raegan Kernan of Irmo, S.C., and Auston Mims of Irmo, S.C.; and seven great-grandshy;children.
Santos was preceded in death by his wife; Emilia Garcia, on Jan. 7, 1994, and a daughter, Sylvia Garcia Sanchez, on Aug. 4, 1985.
