Shirley Burrell

Shirley Jean Burrell, 84, was born Oct. 6, 1936.  She passed away in Hobbs, NM on Dec. 25, 2020.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father and mother, Marvin Abel and Rubena Abel, a sister Elizabeth Reynolds and her husband Tommy Burrell.

Surviving her are her sons, Rick Burrell of Pearl, Mississippi; and Terry (Cheryl) Burrell of Hobbs, NM, daughters, Sandra (Ray) Ables of Hobbs, NM and Angie Padilla of Hobbs, NM.   She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, many, many nieces, and nephews.

Shirley and her husband Tommy were foster parents here in Hobbs for many years and gave love to so many children.  They were Foster Parents of the year in 1988.
