Stan Shaver

Hobbs

Stan Shaver, of Hobbs, NM, was born in Farmington, NM on April 17, 1958, to LeRoy and Frances Shaver. He entered into rest on June 25, 2025, in Plainview, Texas.

Stan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Becky, two daughters, Shalina (Daniel) Pope and Suzi (Zach) Souter, two grandchildren Hannah and Jackson Souter. He is also survived by a brother Steve (Judy) Shaver, two nephews, Jared and Alex Shaver and many extended family and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Scott Shaver.

Stan graduated from Andrews High School in 1976 where he met and married the love of his life Becky Criner Shaver. He worked for Wheeler Buick and Nobel Oldsmobile where he perfected his skills as a master mechanic. Stan went on to work in the oilfield at Phillips 66 and Occidental Petroleum. During his time at Oxy, he worked overseas in the Country of Oman for Occidental Mukhaizna from 2008-2012. He concluded his career with Oxy where he retired in December of 2019.

Stan enjoyed riding motorcycles, vacationing with family and friends and spending time with his family at Lake Brownwood. His greatest passion was to serve others with his God given gifts and talents of being able to fix anything….literally. Stan was a devoted follower of Christ. He was ordained as Deacon at the age of 23 in Andrews, Texas. He was an active member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church and continued to serve his church and his community throughout his lifetime. This was truly his greatest joy. Stan was a “man’s man” and set an example to all of the men in his life, both young and old. Stans’ life and legacy were marked by emulating the love of Jesus through the way he lived his life and served others.

Stan’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday. July 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, 1700 E Yeso, Hobbs, NM with a visitation hour starting at 9:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation to the Taylor Memorial Ministry Tools fund.
