Swana Fae (Gray) Flowers passed from this life and into her heavenly reward on 12-13-2023 in Hobbs, NM after a brief illness.
She was born in Portales, NM on 3-20-1933 to John (Polk) and Ophelia Buntin Gray.
Swana was raised by her grandparents, Will and Agnes Buntin, in Peacock, TX along with her twin sister, Juana. She moved to Hobbs in 1952 where she was employed by General Telephone Company.
She married Truman Flowers 11-20-1954 at the home of his parents, Barney and Alma Flowers. Swana and Truman moved to Golden, CO in 1960 and returned to Hobbs for good in 1971. Swana worked alongside Truman at Hobbs Auto Mart for many years.
Mrs. Flowers spent many of her earlier years teaching 5 year-old Sunday School classes at Immanuel Baptist Church in Hobbs, NM. She and Truman were members of Immanuel Baptist Church for the remainder of their lives. She was member of the Order of the Eastern Star Bethany Chapter #56 in Hobbs,NM.
Swana enjoyed all types of painting, arts and crafts. She received numerous ribbons and awards at the Lea County Fair for her entries.
Mrs. Flowers was preceded in death by her husband, Truman; son, Jack; her parents and two sets of grandparents; five sisters and one brother.
Left to cherish her memory are her three surviving sons; Frank and Isabel Flowers of Beaumont, TX;
Wayne and Barbara Flowers of Hobbs, NM; Shane Flowers of Port Neches, TX, ten grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her granddaughter, Bridget Flowers and her friend, Molly Campos, for the many kind and loving years that they cared for Swana in her home.
