Sylvia Jean Breckon was born June 25, 1945 in Houston, Texas to Louis and Mary Hernandez. She passed away July 18, 2018 at Desert Gardens in Hobbs.
In her youth, Sylvia was an accomplished pianist. Her family had a background in music. Sylvia married Bill Breckon on September 3, 1966 in Hobbs. She had been a member of Lea County Oilfield wives, where she had served as president; Hobbs Quilting Club, and the Grandmother's Club. Sylvia had been the owner of Me and Em's Kritters along with her good friend, Emma Mobley. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, arts and crafts and especially playing cards.
Those that survive Sylvia are two daughters; Dana Wilkinson and husband, Don of Hobbs, Pamela Millard and husband, Larry of Spring Branch, TX; a sister, Rose Marie Hallum of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren; Samuel Wilkinson, Shelby Teeter and husband, Donald all of Hobbs; Abigail, Allison and Amanda Millard of Spring Branch, Texas; one great grandson, Logan Teeter of Hobbs. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Gus Niblack, her husband, and two sisters; Cecelia Clevenger and Linda Kee.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2018, 2pm at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Adams officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery following services. Sylvia will be in state at Chapel of Hope Sunday from 2-5 pm with the family greeting friends between 4 and 5 pm. Also Monday from 8am till service time.
