Terrell Deshaun McGruder

July 22, 1987 — November 15, 2025

Hobbs, NM

When the sun rose, it was the summer of 87 July 22, beginning the life of an angel we know & love by the name of Terrell McGruder. TDM was born in Hobbs, NM to the parents of Sharon Johnson (Hobbs, NM) mother & his father Eugene McGruder (Deceased). Being the oldest of 5 siblings Terrell arrived at the gates of Heaven proceeding in death by a younger brother Decoty Thomas (Hobbs, NM) as well as a younger sister Britni White (Phoenix, AZ) & Sister-in-law Justine Blanton (Clovis, NM). He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Lisa McGruder, his oldest son TJ aka Lil Teezy, Lalia his only daughter (Daddy’s Baby) & his youngest son Tavian aka Patna, his mother Sharon Johnson & brothers Patrick Thomas, & TreSean Hicks all of Hobbs, NM. Matthew & Bernice Blanton mother & father-in-law, as well as Hayden Blanton brother-in-law. Growing up Terrell was known for his warm heart, his quiet strength, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. Whether through a helping hand, a laugh that lit up the room, or the simple comfort of his presence, he made an impact on everyone around him. His love for his family was unwavering, and it showed in everything he did. Whether he spent time hooping on the courts of Washington Park or kicking it at one of his homies cribs. T was the man who liked to kicked back & chill. Growing up hangout spots consisted of Washington park, ground zero, teen center, BBQ’s & family events.

Terrell liked big money & hustled hard for it. At the age of 17 he began what would turn into a lifetime career working in oilfield industries. Throughout his career he would continue to shine & advance in the companies making himself into the well known & respected operator, fisherman & then consultant in the oilfield. Very well respected, hardworking family man we all knew & loved. When he wasn’t working T would spend his time with his family. T & Lil Teezy would spend their time watching scary movies, rough housing, basketball, and junking on Allsup’s snacks. Lalia, his princess & he would have father daughter day consisting of movies at the theater & play dates. Tavian, his youngest child, would spend time fighting & boxing with & learning how to be a gangsta from the OG himself. They shared a passionate interest in collectible guns together. T genuinely loved & enjoyed the company of his wife as they would go out on dates, travel, & stay on the grind for the McGruder family. Not a day went by that T didn’t go by his mothers, they shared a very close bond that will remain forever locked in their hearts. T had two right hand men, cousins but more like brothers from another mother Devauhn Johnson, Vincent “VP” Perry. Together them three made memories & held each other down for a lifetime. He also referred to Kamitria Perry as his sister from another mother. When it came to sports T loved San Francisco 49ers. His basketball team would be hard to pinpoint he remained a Westbrook fan through his career. Grilling was one of T’s favorite hobbies. He’d enjoy a few beers & his favorite Hennessy as a smooth way of unwinding after work. T looked up to all his uncles & aunties, he learned from, loved & respected each and every one of them. In the last few months Terrell had spent more time with his younger siblings Patrick & Tre’Sean. They spent time celebrating as a family & enjoyed one another’s company. Unknowingly they had gotten the chance to lock in an even stronger bond before God called him home. The sunset would come November 15, 2025, when T would be called from the earth to accept his awaiting wings in the glorious heaven sky. Terrell will forever be respected, remembered, & embraced in our daily lives as we accept, he is now living his glory days.
