Velton Flack

Velton Cheatney Flack (Wright), peacefully entered into her eternal slumber on Tuesday, June 11, in Lovington, at the age of 94.

She was born on June 30, 1924, in Tyler, Texas, to the late Mack Wright and Mattie Mobley Wright. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret O'Neal, and six siblings.

She had lived in Hobbs for more than seven decades, after relocating here from Tyler. She worked in janitorial services and had retired from the Hobbs School District.

"Cheatney" as she was fondly called, loved her family and enjoyed being around her friends. She was a remarkable woman who also loved cooking and baking.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Eula Crawford; two granddaughters, Bianca O'Neal, LaTisha (Mark) Sanders; and one grandson, Willie (Melinda) Crawford; and six great-grandchildren.
