Vicente Hinojos

January 27, 1962 — September 30, 2021

Hobbs

Vicente Hinojos, 59, originally of Midland, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2021.  Vicente was born January 27, 1962, in Midland, Texas to his parents, Vicente and Lucinda Hinojos.  He grew up and went to school in Midland and worked in the car industry from a young age.  Vicente and wife Kristi moved to Hobbs in 1993, with Vicente working for Western Motor Company until his retirement.  He then began a career in the oilfield, working as a pumper, and later for Nova Mud as a Truck Supervisor.

After moving to Hobbs, Vicente quickly became a much beloved fixture in the community, participating in events and supporting various organizations, especially those for children and military veterans.  He never met a stranger, and most who knew him, loved him.  His constant and enthusiastic support of his own children, and many other children who saw him as a father figure, brought him immense joy.

He was a loving and supportive husband and father, always making sure that his family was taken care of.  He was perhaps best known in the local drag racing community, where he was widely known, respected and loved.  Vicente, who always greeted everyone with his amazing smile, was always ready with an open ear and a helping hand for those around him.  If he called you friend, you had a friend for life, and he would do all that he could to be available and ready to assist those friends, as well as strangers in need.  Vicente had a heart for children and young adults, being a mentor and foster parent to many. He truly represented the best in humanity.  His keen wit and unshakable integrity made him a truly amazing husband, father, son, and friend.  He will be dearly missed.

Vicente is survived by his wife, Kristi Hinojos, four sons, Jeremy Wood and wife Sarah Wood, Vicente Hinojos III (JJ), Jermaine Anderson and Jameson Anderson.  He is survived by his mother, Lucinda Hinojos, sister Carolyn Sanchez (Joe), brothers Rene Hinojos (Crystal), Robert Hinojos (Hilda), and Nicolas Hinojos, and by his grandchildren Colette Wood and Wesley Wood and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.  Vicente was preceded in death by his father, Vicente C. Hinojos.
