Wilda Jean Dukes is boundless...coming from humble beginnings... Born on an oil lease in Brown County, Texas, December 31, 1931. She was the daughter of Milton (Red) and Ruby (Stark) Dukes. Growing up with brother Don Dukes and attended school in Rising Star, Texas. Wilda was a brilliant student. Excelling passed 4th grade into 6th, she played basketball on the Rising Star Wildcats High Schools' girls' team and graduated in 1948. She attended Cisco Junior College, studying secretarial skills then moved to Lubbock and started dating her brother Don's friend, Ralph Erwin. In Lubbock, they married in 1950 and started their family. Jean was active in the First Presbyterian Church thru her life, also being a deacon of the church. A charter member of the Women of the Moose, achieving the highest position. She was also a member of Bethany Chapter 56 Order of Eastern Star, and VFW.
Wilda loved all her children, grand and great-grandchildren. Attending every event each one participated in.
Wilda 'Mama' Jean Bennett is survived by her daughters, Donna Ree Adams of Hobbs, her daughter Tanya Kenny (Lance) children: Charlotte and Rigin of Austin, Texas; Belinda Jean Rowland (Boyd) Hobbs, children: Shea Cavner (Chrissy) children Camden and Lyla of Georgetown, Texas and, Sara Cavner, children: Bradon, Kaydon and Paisley of Hobbs and Dickie Lee Erwin of Austin, Texas and his son Rowdie Erwin of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cory Rowland (Kelsey) children: Ace and Gus. Jean was preceded by her son, Ronald Edwin Erwin who passed away, January 22, 2023, and survived by his daughter Olivia Brown (Cory) and their children: Delainie and Conner of Austin, TX.
