William Boerger

William D. “Bill”Boerger, 79 passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 in Lubbock Texas, at Crown Point Health Suites.  Bill was born in New Braunfels, Texas on February 10, 1941 to Daniel and Anna Boerger.  Bill worked for the Hobbs News Sun from 1960 to 1968.  He then became partners in the Hobbs Donut Center and after a couple of years became the sole owner and manager until 2004 when he retired.  He won a Meritorious Award in February 1977, the first food service establishment in Lea County and only the fourth in the state at the time to receive the honor.  Bill was a God-fearing man and loved being with family and friends.  Always kind, generous and willing to help anyone.  Preceded in death by his parents, Daniel & Anna Boerger, sister, Anna Haddock and Elizabeth Simon, niece, Karen Walker and great nephew Scott Shelton.  He is survived by his son Kevin Stephenson and wife Jennifer of Anderson Texas, sister, Erliene Shelton and niece, Lisa Greenlee of Hobbs, NM, granddaughters, Jessica Stephenson of College Station, Texas, and Jaime Stephenson of Austin, Texas.  A great niece, Hollie Silva and husband Emanuel, great nephew, Brandon McGill and wife Elizabeth of Waldorf, Maryland, and a number of great-great nieces and nephews.   The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Hospice of the South Plains, as well as nurse Ryn and the staff of Crown Point Health Suites in Lubbock Texas for their caring service.  Any donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Meals On Wheels in Hobbs, New Mexico or to the charity of your choice.
