Yvonne (Nixon) Moore arrived to her eternal home with Jesus Christ early Sunday, July 7, 2019. She was 78 years old. She married Leon Moore on December 22, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas. Yvonne was a wonderful wife and Leon said, “She drug good!” having drug her with his jobs across Texas, Utah, Louisiana, Colorado, Illinois, Arizona and finally making their home in Hobbs, New Mexico. She made many incredible memories at lakes camping, fishing, cheering everyone on as they water skied and innertubed. She enjoyed cooking, gathering with family and friends, growing gardens, canning, sewing and making a wonderful home. She and Leon enjoyed years of square dancing. She was a dedicated employee working for Levi Strauss and several ladies’ dress shops in Hobbs. Her name was as unique as her personality, always knowing when someone didn’t really know her when they couldn’t pronounce it correctly: “Y”-va nae. Yvonne was baptized as a child and rededicated her life to Christ in 2003. She was a member of Jefferson Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband Leon Moore, daughters: Patti and Chris Bates of Walters, OK; Kelly and Doug Avants of Lampasas, TX; Kim and Joe Don Latimer of Hobbs, NM; Pam and Teddy Lytle of Rhome, TX; son: Brian and Pamela Herald of San Antonio, TX; and brother: Gene and Vickie Nixon of Avinger, TX; 16 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Wilma Nixon, her sister Judy Burk, grandson Zachariah Christy, and great-granddaughter Emma Latimer.
A special thank you to all the staff of Bee Hive Homes of Hobbs and Kindred Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of New Mexico or the charity of your choice.
