Arthur Espinosa, Sr.

July 1, 1931 ~ May 3, 2022 (age 90)

Obituary

Arthur Espinoza Sr. (Arturo Espinosa), age 90 was born on July 1, 1931 in Eden, TX and passed away in Hobbs on May 3, 2022.

Arthur, grew up in Eldorado, TX where he graduated high school and soon enlisted in the U. S. Navy.  In the Navy he served as a cook and a baker and fought in the Korean War.

Dad married Amanda Espinoza in 1957 and had five children.

He is survived by, his wife of 28 years, Amanda Espinoza, sons, Arthur Espinoza Jr. and spouse, Gale Espinoza, Sebastian Espinoza and spouse, Anna Espinoza and daughter, Veronica Silvey all of Hobbs, NM.  Grandchildren from Santa Fe, NM are Rey Jimenez, Frankie Jimenez and Tony Jimenez, from Hobbs, NM grandchildren are, Armando Espinoza, Peter Trees, Jeremiah Espinoza, Zachary Lizama, Eric Lizama and Gregory Silvey Jr. and Jennifer Benavidez and Melissa Diaz both from Fremont, OH.  Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Delia Espinoza, and two daughters, Isabel Marshall and Christina Trees.

Mr. Espinoza has numerous great-grandchildren.

Arthur has been a long-time resident of both Seminole, Tx and Hobbs, NM.

Arthur Espinoza served his country well.  After the military and starting a family, he worked many years in the Permian Basin oil field pipeline industry and then moved on as an oilfield supervisor in Lea County and Seminole, TX.  Arthur was also an expert in cement and masonry and worked in that field until he was 88 years old.

Dad loved to farm and hunt.  He loved to cook, entertain and he enjoyed every season of the year and he loved to tell stories.  He had a sense of humor like no other and sayings that should never be repeated.  In all the days of my dad’s life no one can recall a feud or dispute he had with anyone.  Dad was a man of God and raised his family as such.  He taught his children how to make amends, when necessary, how to learn from mistakes, how not to take life for granted, to be strong, work hard and to celebrate each other.  He led his life a very proud man, he was brave and loved to venture out.  He always conveyed to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to appreciate life, have fun, laugh, eat well, do your part, be kind and to help each other.

We will carry on now in Arthur’s memory.  He prepared us well.  We will never run short on stories or our gratitude for having had Arthur lead our family, “Pops” our matriarch is resting now.  He was “ready to go home” and he was at peace with God.  He is now reunited with his daughters, his parents, and his siblings whom we hold forever in our hearts and find comfort in dad now joining the angels and looking over us from above.
