Obituary

Bobby Joe Gilliland, aka Bob from Hobbs, 74, of Hobbs, New Mexico, joined the Lord on Friday, April 29, 2022, at home with family, after a courageous fight with cancer.

Bobby was born in Blytheville, AR on November 12, 1947, to late Joel and Edna Gilliland. He moved to Hobbs, NM in 1952. He graduated from Hobbs High School 1967.

Bobby was a Vietnam Veteran. He served Honorably with the US Army attached to 101st airborne medivac unit.

Bobby married Charlotte Brown on November 21,1975; they were married 47 years.

He was a Deacon of First Baptist Church and the entrainment for the Sunday School class. He enjoyed fly fishing, drawing, making horseshoe crosses and telling jokes.

Bobby is survived by his love Charlotte Gilliland, daughters Crystal Jones of Carlsbad, NM, Chasity Hiler of Michigan, grandchildren Grayson and Garrett Jones, Katelyn Weaver, great-granddaughter Iris Weaver, brother Steve Gilliland and wife Brenda Jones, numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father Joel Gilliland, his mother Edna Mae Gilliland.
