Elaine (Sifferman) Shipman

October 28, 1938 ~ October 15, 2020 (age 81)

Audrey Elaine Shipman passed away peacefully in her sleep and went to be with the Lord October 15, 2020.  She was a lifelong resident of Hobbs, NM.  Elaine graduated from Lovington High School, Class of 1957. Born in Houston, Texas to Lillian Ethelene and Frank Thomas Sifferman, Sr on October 28.  She spent her childhood in Tomball and Bowie, Texas. Her family then moved to Lovington, New Mexico in the mid 1950's. Elaine was an employee of GTE for 37 years before retiring. She started as a telephone operator and later was a tech on the frame and then outside customer service. She thoroughly enjoyed calling on businesses in the Hobbs and surrounding areas and meeting the public. Elaine was well known in the community and never met a stranger. She had many friends and a few adopted families; she was loved by all.  Elaine took great pride in her yard, her dogs, and a yard full of pet turtles. Her biggest joy was her granddaughters, Allison and Rebecca. Elaine was a true Texan at heart, an avid Trump supporter, and loved eating Mexican food and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She is survived by her daughter Linda Gazzaway of Hobbs, her son Ken Shipman and her granddaughters Allison and Rebecca Shipman of Elgin Texas, her beloved cousin Danelle Kennon of Texas, nephew John Herriage of Texas, and many other nieces and nephews and so many loving friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethelene and Frank Sifferman and her brother Frank Jr.
