James Robert (Bob) Pennell, 85, died with loved ones at his side, on June 14, 2022, in Hobbs, NM following a series of strokes. He was born January 20, 1937, in Tom Bean, Texas, the son of Paul and Leta (Odle) Pennell.
Bob moved to Hobbs in the 1960’s, where he proceeded to build businesses including; Pennell Wrecker Service and Pennell Paint and Body, before beginning his final career as a truck-driver. Bob enjoyed seeing the country from his truck. Bob had a presence that filled the room when he walked in. All who met him surely have a story to tell. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, John Pennell and a sister, Jean Blanton. He is survived by his son, Bobby Pennell and wife, Judy, of Hobbs; daughter, Gina (Pennell) Hood and husband Ray, of Seguin; sister, Pauline Walker of Oklahoma; Teresa Crawford Pennell, a niece, and Johnny Pennell, a nephew, both from Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; many more nieces and nephews.
