Mable Lee (Nix) Smith

Mable Smith, 85 of Hobbs passed away April 12, 2022 in Lubbock, TX.  

Mrs. Smith moved to Hobbs, NM in the early 1950’s with her family where she met her late husband, Earl Smith. She held many jobs from housekeeping, Homecare provider, to finally retiring from the State of New Mexico after working 25 years in 2000.  Her passion was taking care of others before herself.  She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She was a devout member of Little Zion Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and other duties.

She is survived by her sister Wilma (Rodger) Tillman of Los Angeles, CA; one brother Edward Nix Jr. of Levelland, TX; children Linda Oliver of Lubbock, TX; Glenda Oliver of Houston, TX; Betty Oliver of Hobbs, NM; Anthony Evans of Hobbs, NM; Pamela Smith of Hobbs, NM; Veronica (Rawle) Farley of Houston, TX; Debra (Larry) of Hobbs, NM and Ryan Smith of Hobbs, NM; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by both parents Mollie Nix and Edward Nix Sr.; husband Earl Smith two brothers William Earl Nix, Melvin Nix, three sisters: Doris Smith, Virdell Atkinson and Joyce L Roach.
