Maxie Lynn (Horner) McCracken

Maxie Lynn McCracken (Mimi), 86, of San Angelo, TX passed peacefully away on March 20, 2023. Maxie was born August 18, 1936, in Seagraves TX, to Otis and Mary Horner.

She grew up on a farm just outside Denver City, TX. There she attended school from the 1st to the 12th grade, participating in basketball, volleyball, and was a majorette in the band, all the while making many lasting friendships along the way.

Maxie was married to C.B. McCracken. They relocated their family to Hobbs, NM in 1967. She would remain in Hobbs until 2006 when she moved to San Angelo TX to be closer to her mother Mary, Aunt Mavis, and her siblings Don and Ellan.

Maxie was a wonderful example of what a wife, mother, and Mimi should be. Her most fulfilling job was that of a mother, a Mimi, a sister, and a mother-in-law. Her top priorities were her faith in Christ, her husband, children, and grandchildren and it showed in everything she did. In the early years, she invested countless hours raising three children so C.B. could work the hours needed to support the family. She later started working at Kmart in Hobbs, where she took pride in being a part of a "work family" and the lifetime friendships that were made there. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, spending time at the lake during the summer camping and fishing, cooking, and sewing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, C. B. McCracken, son Gary Alan McCracken, grandson Cory Alan McCracken, parents Otis and Mary Horner, and brothers Ronnie and Randy.

She is survived by her son Terry McCracken and wife San of Hobbs, NM, daughter Karen Provence and husband Larry of Denver City, TX, daughter-in-law Susie McCracken of Hobbs, NM, grandchildren Travis and Amy Brooker of ABQ, NM, Candice and Quentin DeRossett of Forney, TX, Ty and Jeni McCracken of Melissa, TX, and Chris McCracken of Hobbs, NM, great-grandchildren Bradley Brooker of ABQ, NM, Madison, Aiden, and Peyton DeRossett of Forney, TX, Kaylee McCracken of Hobbs, NM, and Molly and Chase McCracken of Melissa, TX. Her sister Ellan Kirkland, brother Don Horner and wife Karen, sister Melinda Dragomir and husband Richard, along with many nieces and nephews.

Maxie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She cherished her time with family more than anything. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
